What… What’s that lurking in the bush?

After the days in the ashram, the day I left turned out to be great. Next to the ashram is a lake, and me, Tom and new found partners in crime Jay, Devin and Natalie (we skipped Satsang and hid in the bush, they came looking for us with torches!) swam across and walked along the fence of the Neyyar Dam Safari Park. Just to go for a walk, do something fun. Jay and Natalie were just a little bit ahead, and then…

Some rustling… A LION jumped out of the bush, right next to Jay and Natalie. It was amazing to see from a little distance, but I would have been terrified had that been me. But she wasn’t growling, just territorial. As me and Tom walked up, ANOTHER lion came out. They both laid down right in front of us. Not a meter between us, and an Indian made fence for protection. They were so big! These are semi-wild animals! I’ve seen pictures of people going on a “safari” in Thailand, holding a highly sedated tiger by the tail, but these lions were real. We could see the nails on their claws stretching and unstretching, their massive teeth when they yawned… They would have jumped on us if we’d been more threatening. Lucky we were all to skinny to make for a good meal, so they got bored with us pretty soon and after a tiny lion-on-lion fight (the girls didn’t seem to particularly like each other) we all went on our own way. Back across the lake, exhilerated these two amazing creatures when we were expecting, well… Nothing.
On to a bus and a train, because after the ashram we gave ourselves a little break, a little holiday.

We hope to see you both at home soon, without wounds from lions etc. We still stay at home and expect a beautiful spring. Robin and Floris live in Utrecht for their studies. And we have our house for two parents alone as in the beginning. You must have seen enough of the world to go back tot Resi and Peter and your lovely sister Imre. Greetings from Nijmegen!
